28. Colonel Frank L. Wolford Monument *
Columbia Cemetery (Adair County)

Frank Wolford (1817-1895), a native Adair Countian, was a prominent attorney and congressman. He joined the 1st Kentucky Cavalry during the War, and spent much of his time chasing after John Hunt Morgan and his men. This rather controversial Union officer was dishonorably discharged in March 1864 for criticizing Lincoln’s presidency, specifically Lincoln's orders to recruit African American men in Kentucky, and was arrested and jailed several times for acts of disloyalty by General Burbridge.
