McLean County is a rural and mostly agricultural county in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky.
QUILTED BARN: The Pinkston & Abney families in McLean County have added a touch of whimsey onto their farm's barn. A quilt design has been added to their barns similar to those of the Kentucky Barn Trail in eastern Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee, called the "Clothesline of Quilts". Two recreational trail grants were awarded by Governor's Office of Local Development (GOLD) totaling $30,000 in matching funds. The funds will be used to mark existing trails, create new trails, add directional signage, maps, etc.
The Forestry Grant will be used to develop interpretive displays, a nature facility and an outdoor classroom education website and printed materials.
