Alice Lloyd College
In the early 1900s, eastern Kentucky was lacking in educational opportunities when Alice Lloyd moved from Boston to Ivis, Kentucky. She saw the need for regional uplift and felt that through education, the Appalachian people could have a brighter future. Through vision and hard work, a school was begun which later became known as Alice Lloyd College.
Take a walking tour of this beautiful campus, where early mountain architecture blends with the contemporary, and hear the inspiring story of how a frail invalid overcame obstacles to realize her dream of educating mountain youth. (606) 368-2101
