Whitewater in Kentucky
10/28/08 (Tuesday) - Risa Shimoda from Maryland paid a site visit to the proposed Whitewater Park in Bowling Green, KY. Ms. Shimoda is actively involved in whitewater sports for a number of years and is the contact person for The International Whitewater Hall of Fame (IWHoF). She has become the driving force behind promotion of whitewater parks and bringing in new participants into this exciting sport. The Shimoda Group has worked with two of the foremost designers of whitewater parks in the United States, John Anderson and Rick McLaughlin of the McLaughlin Whitewater Design Group. This group has designed numerous whitewater courses and riverfront parks in 9 states in the U.S. including the 1996 Olympic Slalom course on the Upper Ocoee River and the McHenry Maryland Whitewater Park which hosted the 2008 World Whitewater Games, a few weeks ago. For more on these whitewater park designers visit these websites at: mclaughlinwhitewater.com or whitewatercoursesandparks.com
