Taylorsville Lake
State Park & Wildlife Management Area

The Lake bears the name of nearby Taylorsville, founded in 1799 by Richard Taylor, landowner and proprietor of a local grist mill. The Louisville District of the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers designed, built and operates the project for outdoor recreation and fish & wildlife preservation and enhancement. The Park offers the unbeatable combination of woods and water for outdoor leisure & recreation.

Points of Interest:
  • A 45-site Class A campground (502) 477-0086 and a 15-site primitive horse camp is located here. Both have restrooms and shower houses.
  • A 2-mile hiking trail is located at the Corps Visitors Center. 17.3-mile complex of hiking/horse trails are located at the State Possum Ridge site. These trails also allow cycling on some (see map).
  • Rustic log school house and log cabin from early 1800 Spencer County are restored near the Visitor Center. A short interpretive trail explaining the local history is located here.
  • Watchable wildlife area - 20-acre area near the state park area is maintained by the KY Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources to enhance the viewing of wildlife in their natural habitat.
  • Picnic Shelters with tables, grills & a restroom facility
  • Boat Ramps are located at Possum Ridge, Settler's Trace, Chowning Lane and Van Buren
  • Taylorsville Lake Dock. (502) 477-8766, full service dock with boat ramp, open and covered slips, marine & fishing supplies, rental fishing boats & pontoons.
