Adventure Tourism Entrepreneur Workshop

The Southwest Regional Recreation Authority, and its partners, will hold a Tourism Entrepreneurship Workshop on April 9, 2010 at the Holiday Inn in Norton. Please save the date and be a part of this process which will begin a series of these types of workshops throughout Southwest Virginia.

DETAILS: Are you interested in launching an adventure tourism business in Southwest Virginia? Adventure tourism is the fastest growing aspect of tourism throughout the world and this workshop will outline the opportunities, business case examples and provide the steps required to launch a successful adventure tourism business in Southwest Virginia.

The workshop will include an update on the tourism developments underway in the region, hear first hand from business owners who have found success in this industry and learn from professionals in the field of business startup and expansion in Virginia that will provide the steps required to launching a business, marketing, financing and connecting to resources that can jump start your tourism venture.

On November 12th, 2009, the results of a recent five month comprehensive study was presented at a conference held in Norton Virginia that showed that there is tremendous potential for Southwest Virginia to become a “Trail Destination” for ATV riders, bikers, hikers, canoeists, horseback riders, naturalists and others. December 8 - Knott County Kentucky played host to a three state adventure tourism initiative. Representatives from Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia met and discussed the need to work together to provide an international destination for those looking to experience adventure tourism at it's finest.

December 18 - Tazewell Virginia - Kick Off for the Pocahontas OHV Trail.
