The third and present Madison County courthouse was completed in 1850. Major Thomas Lewinski of Lexington was compensated $260 for his plan. The two-story courthouse is of Greek Revival style, with a center temple form with wings. The entire cost of the courthouse was $35,000. In 1880 and 1964 remodeling took place.
