The present Hart County courthouse was built in 1928 to replace the original, which burned earlier that year. Thomas J. Nolan, of Louisville, was the architect for the project. The contractor was Jenkins Construction and Supply Co. of Elizabethtown. It is a three-story brick building of Beaux-Arts design. The final cost of the new courthouse was $45,000.
