The third and present Casey County courthouse was designed by H.P. McDonald Brothers of Louisville and completed in1889.

The building is of an elaborate Victorian design. The contractors were McCoy and Milbern and Thomas D. Dunhauser was responsible for the stonework. Brick from a previous courthouse was used in the construction.
