The current and fourth Bourbon County courthouse was completed in 1905. The designer was Frank P. Milburn and is of Breaux-Arts style, it was completed for a cost of $170,000. The contractor for the courthouse was Gibson & Crawford of Indiana. The building later provided inspiration for the South Carolina capitol building, which Milburn later designed. It almost became the design for the Kentucky State Capitol - it came in second.
