The third and present Bath County Courthouse was built in 1866 at a cost of $34,000. The contractor of the traditional Italianate style building was Frederick Visscher. Remodeling took place during 1903-04 to the interior of the building including a new clock and bell tower. Inside a new stairway was added and an oak railing to separate the bar from the main courtroom.
