The sixth and present Barren County courthouse was completed in 1965. Designed by Bayless, Clotfelter and Johnson, a Lexington architectural firm, and it was built at a cost of $470,000 by the Ernest Simpson Construction Company. The current structure was rebuilt to replace the old one which was considered unsafe and the building was taken down in 1964.
